First Art is a registered charity (no. 1193429) and leads the First Art Creative People and Places programme in partnership with Creswell Heritage Trust at Creswell Crags, Junction Arts, Active Partners Trust, and Bolsover Community & Voluntary Service . The consortium is chaired by Amy Bere, Director of Culture at Nottingham Trent University. The consortium provides expertise and guidance of the Creative People and Places programme.

Our Consortium

Nottingham Trent University

The consortium is chaired by Amy Bere, Director of Culture at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). NTU is one of the largest and most influential higher education institutions in the country. It’s committed to driving forward meaningful change and was one of the first to sign up to the Government’s social mobility pledge, University Mental Health Charter and Disabled Student Commitment. Focused on improving the prospects of young people, NTU is passionate about fostering local talent, with over a third of its students coming from the East Midlands.

Creswell Heritage Trust

Creswell Heritage Trust works to protect Creswell Crags, one of the most important Ice Age sites in Britain. The archaeological park includes caves, gorge, museum and visitor centre in north Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire (it's right on the border). Creswell Crags is from where First Art takes its name, from the historic cave drawings on the site - the first known art made by man 13,000 years ago.

Junction Arts

Junction Arts are a community arts charity, based in Derbyshire. Since 1976, they have developed and delivered engaging arts experiences within disadvantaged areas, to improve wellbeing, build confidence and skills, address inequality and inspire positive change.

Active Partners Trust

Active Partners Trust is a charitable trust, bringing together the Active Partnerships in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire through Active Derbyshire and Active Notts. As one of 43 Active Partnerships across England, Active Partners Trust, working in Derbyshire as Active Derbyshire and in Notts as Active Notts, teams up with local councils, community groups, businesses, healthcare organisations, charities, and more to find out what’s needed.

Bolsover CVS (BCVS)

BCVS is a registered charity that works to challenge deprivation, health inequalities, and social exclusion through supporting local residents and voluntary and community groups across Bassetlaw and Bolsover.
