Kim lives in Shirebrook and is deeply passionate about our project in getting people out and about and improving her local community.
She has been involved with the project from the very beginning, taking part in the early consultation exercises and helping shape the initial ideas.
Since then, she has become one of our most regular participants, attending more than 20 sessions.
Kim brings local insight and commitment, and her continued involvement demonstrates how strongly residents feel about creating positive change where they live.
My motivation is quite simple: the need to get out (of the house) and to make good use of my time with family, friends and potential new friends.
I’ve personally gained quite a lot from going to STG: a lot of enjoyment; I’ve gained new skills and had quality time out from my routine life. I enjoyed good food and great, well-organised entertainment (free, so I don’t feel guilty spending money) at a local venue. It made me feel quite privileged to take part. I’ve used some of my new skills already (wreath making), and it felt good to be able to produce something as a personal homemade gift for a family member.
Being at the sessions provided by STG gave me time out from a personal family issue and a much-needed break. The creative sessions gave us something to take home as a reminder that we are capable of learning new skills. The entertainment was high quality, and the refreshments provided were enjoyed by everyone. A big thank you to all involved.”
