A woman with glasses and long brown hair, wearing a pink jumper, sits at a table, resting her chin on her hand, looking at the camera. She is in a small community hall.

A grandmother to six, Angelique was struggling with low confidence and getting out.

“On the morning of my first session I nearly didn’t come”, says Angelique. “I was very apprehensive. I don’t go out much and have little confidence to go to things but when I saw the advert for Shirebrook Get Together on the Shirebrook Facebook page, something just clicked and I thought ‘yes, I’ll go’.”

“The minute I walked through the door, Hannah and Steph made me feel so welcome.”

Angelique says that being part of Shirebrook Get Together has brought her friendship and that she feels listened to, and people are interested in what you have to say.

Being at the sessions doesn’t just get her out of the house, Angelique says she feels a boost of confidence when there and that she’s part of something.

“While I am at the sessions it puts me in a different mindset. It helps me switch off.”
