Connie, a group member of Shirebrook Get Together

An older white woman with short grey hair and glasses. She is wearing a cream and black jumper and smiling, holding white and mustard-coloured macrame crafts stood in a community hall with two other group members in the background.

Although community-minded and involved in several initiatives in Shirebrook, Connie had been looking for something that would get her out of the house and able to meet people.

She came across Shirebrook Get Together after being handed a leaflet by a local social enterprise.

She admits she was a little unsure as to what to expect but said to herself, “If I don’t come along, I won’t know”.

It’s been a different experience and one that’s helped my wellbeing. Coming out of four walls is important.

Shirebrook Get Together has helped me to meet new people and given me a new lease of life.”
