A series of free creative workshops run by First Art are being offered to Ashfield residents through Inspiring Ashfield.
The workshops will run from mid October through to Christmas 2021 at Idlewells Shopping Centre.
Ranging from zine character creation and heat-press printing to weaving a mini tapestry, the series of workshops have been designed to stimulate and encourage creative thinking, whilst focusing on the transformative power art can have on our health and wellbeing.
Inspiring Ashfield, led by Ashfield Voluntary Action (AVA), is funded through Thriving Communities – an Arts Council England initiative aimed at improving and increasing the range and reach of available social prescribing community activities.
AVA is enabling local voluntary and community groups across Ashfield, including First Art, to develop and deliver a range of activities to support the health and wellbeing of local people.
First Art will be delivering a wide range of creative workshops with an inspirational line up of creatives. Workshops are being run as a mix of drop-in and booked sessions, with the former offered in the mornings, and latter in the afternoons.
Liam Skillen, First Art Project Co-ordinator said:
Whether a newbie to art or a seasoned crafter, these sessions will allow residents to try something new with First Art this autumn-winter and hopeful help people to reap the wellbeing benefits that creative activities can offer.
More information about the workshops available can be found on our What’s On page.
