Karl Greenwood, First Art Director, has been invited to speak at the forthcoming Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands (CVAN EM) forum ‘What change do you want to see through culture?’.
Taking place on 3 November, both in person and online, the event will explore place-based fundraising, especially around Arts Council England’s Priority and Levelling Up for Culture Places.
The event hopes to build confidence and understanding around fundraising avenues and partnership working in the region.
Cultural Ecology
Karl will be talking about how we can work together to strengthen the cultural ecology, touching on areas of First Art’s work around cultural enterprise, cultural development surgeries and cultural asset networks, as well as developing co-production models with local people and artists.
An old hand
Karl will be bringing his 20+ years of experience of managing a wide range of art programmes across the UK that work collaboratively with artists, communities and cross-sectoral partners.
He has been involved in the Creative People and Places programme for nine years as Appetite Director in Stoke-on-Trent before he took over as the First Art Director in late 2018. He’ll be sharing his first-hand experience of setting up artist development programmes, co-production models, and creating new cultural assets such as outdoor festivals to strengthen the arts infrastructure of a place.
