First Art’s Out and About Club in Clay Cross, North East Derbyshire has been a big hit, having run over the summer holidays and during half terms, as part of the work of the Active Neighbourhood Partnership.
The Club offers local families free sessions over the holidays providing the opportunity to try lots of different creative activities alongside sporting activity.
Activities have ranged from cyanotypes (aka sun photography) to silk painting and t-shirt printing. Sports have been varied too including orienteering, swing ball, basket ball, and lots more.
It also provides a chance for families to get to spend time together as well as meet with others in the local area and make new connections.
All children attending are provided with a meal.
The Clubs have run over two summers now and we’re just about to embark on a February half term club, having also run an October half term club, made possible thanks to funding from Sport England’s Movement Fund, alongside funding from the Arts Council England Creative People and Places programme.
Our new video gives a snapshot of the club and what great things can be acheived through partnership working.
