Chapter Three – Shine a Light

Celebrating those that have gone the extra mile

In November 2020, we launched the Shine a Light campaign across Bellamy Road (Mansfield), Clay Cross, Leamington (Ashfield), and South Normanton.

We asked people to nominate those that had gone above and beyond to help their community during the coronavirus pandemic.

We wanted to shine a light on them and what they had done, and to celebrate their efforts and what it has meant for their communities during these very difficult times.

Selfless acts from so many

We received nominations for all sorts of selfless acts by individuals, groups and organisations which highlighted how each and everyone is a vital part to their community.

A panel of judges, which included representatives from each respective community, helped to select up to three heroes from each area.

Honouring the Community Heroes

The crowned Community Heroes are the subject of a series of portraits by Nottingham-based illustrator/artist Liv Auckland and a short film by Will J Carman.
