Active Ashfield

First Art partnered with Ashfield District Council to weave arts into an established non-arts event, Active Ashfield, to introduce such things to those that wouldn’t typically engage with the arts.

We wanted to explore the meeting point between arts and sport, and broaden the understanding of being ‘active’ to include dance, circus, visual arts and carnival. The Active Ashfield Games provided the main focus where we introduced a range of outdoors arts using companies such as Pif Paf Theatre, Tumble Circus and Mahogany Carnival Arts.

Around 1,800 people came along to the event but, sadly, bad weather meant quite a few stayed away.
