An outdoor photography exhibition in Mansfield, celebrating the people and places of Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire, PORTRAIT was the first major commission of the First Art programme.

UK photographers Kajal Nisha Patel and Mansfield-born David Severn travelled across the four districts to capture and create an intimate picture of the local characters and landscape.

A stunning installation was then created with Portuguese producers, Procur.arte. Images were displayed on their innovative lightbox exhibition system – the first time it had been in the UK – turning Mansfield Market Place into a spectacular outdoor gallery, visible by day and night.

The installation was shown in Mansfield for three weeks during  April and May 2015.
