Inside Eye Cinema is a community-led immersive style cinema in Mansfield creating unique art experiences inspired by film.

Made up of 16 – 25 year olds, the group have plenty of ideas for future events and have already got one event under their belts, despite only setting up in late 2019.

IEC got going with the help of First Art and Inspire Youth Art and with funding from Cinema for All.

As part of the Producers programme, it was down to the group to come up with a name, decide on the first film to show and all the activities to take place at their debut event,  and just as importantly, be hands on at the event. This event was an immersive style screening of Elf in Dec 2019, targeting families in Mansfield to benefit from this cultural experience. It included singing and arts workshops inspired by the film.

Inside Eye Cinema aims to create unique opportunities for local residents to come together and enjoy an arts event for free and/or at a nominal price. We will continue to provide unprecedented opportunities for local people to lead and develop this with us. In doing so we will inspire more people to experience a range of art forms, increase skills, improve employability, reach more people and provide a social space which connects people to one another which may not happen otherwise.

Because Cinema is the most accessible and popular form of ticketed cultural experience in the UK, we wanted to create unique arts experiences with local people around well-known films which have mass appeal.
