Get the kettle on, grab a pen and join us for a natter in our cozy writing room.
Part of a series of 6-week creative conversations taking place on 9, 16, 23, 30 July and 6 & 13 August
This workshop is for anyone aged 55+ who has something to say about lockdown and wants to get it off their chest.
You provide the brew and we’ll provide everything else by creating an inspiring, fun and caring environment to bounce stories and ideas off each other. Local writers Andy Barrett and Lucy Grace will be your hosts, helping you every step of the way by setting simple and tiny writing tasks each week.
Because we are funded to work in certain areas, you must be residents in the districts of Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield, or North East Derbyshire to take part in this.
So if you have some time on your hands, a Wi-Fi signal, a webcam and, most importantly, a kettle let’s all get together and put the world to rights.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE WRITING ZOOM?
Chatting, and lots of it with some writing in between.
The workshops run for six weeks, they’re free to join, and you can attend from the comfort of any room in your house providing the WI-FI signal is pretty decent. You can join on a computer, phone or tablet, whatever makes you most comfortable.
We’ll give you simple creative tasks and set times each week in which to write. Each online session will build on each task to help you develop your creative writing skills into a final piece. Our fab writers, Andy and Lucy, will always be at hand to give you the smile and support you need.

WHAT WILL THE FINAL WORK BE AND WHERE IT BE SHOWN?
The honest answer, we just don’t know yet. This is because we will all work together to decide what to do with these words in the real and online world.
This project forms part of the Elder Tree scheme, led by Writing East Midlands and in partnership with First Art. The Elder Tree is part of the Celebrating Age programme, which is jointly funded by Arts Council England through the National Lottery and the Baring Foundation.
